What is Gundam Seed?

Gundam Seed is an anime takes place far into the future. Human kind has learned how to genetically alter human genes to make them superior in strength, intelligence and every other aspect. These "new" humans were called Coordinators. However, this new-found science created a huge rift between the naturals and the coordinators causing the coordinators to move into space and create their own world. This society was named Zaft, while the naturals living on Earth called themselves the Earth Alliance.

The story starts during an 11-month cold war between the Earth Alliance and Zaft. The Earth Alliance, wanting an advantage in the war, created 5 Gundams, which were very powerful mobile suits. These Gundams were stored in the neutral colony Heliopolis, which was destroyed when ZAFT attempted to steal the Gundams.

Kira Yamato, a coordinator, was living in Heliopolis and due to a strange twist in fate, was caught between the crossfire. With no other choice, he climbed into the only Gundam that ZAFT had not stolen and used it to protect his friends. Because of his genetics superiority, he was a masterful pilot and was enlisted to join the ranks on the battleship Archangel along with his friends.

We then follow Kira's journey as he finds himself caught in the middle of a horrific war, while trying to figure out wrong from right and if there's a reason for the seemingly endless deaths.
